An evaporation system is a plant that concentrates a dilute solution by evaporating water or another solvent from it, producing a more concentrated product (concentrate). The equipment that carries out this operation is called an evaporator.
Evaporation is the process of concentrating a process solution by heating the solvent to its boiling point at a defined pressure and vaporising it. For heat-sensitive products, the process is usually carried out under vacuum to lower the boiling temperature.
The liquid to be evaporated is heated to its boiling point in a heat exchanger, and evaporation takes place at the evaporation surface created in the separator. The separated vapour is condensed in a condenser, while the concentrate is withdrawn from the system or recirculated. To reduce energy consumption, heating options such as multiple-effect arrangements, thermal vapour recompression (TVR) or mechanical vapour recompression (MVR) can be used.
To meet different customer requirements such as density, purity, particle size and operating time, Makfen evaluates evaporator types, plant layout and heating options together to determine the right solution for each project.
