TUBULAR HEAT EXCHANGER MANUFACTURING

Since 2009, Makfen and its expert team have designed and manufactured shell and tube heat exchangers / tubular heat exchangers. One fluid flows through the tube bundle and the other through the shell. Pressurised exchangers are designed within the scope of the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) 2014/68/EU, to EN 13445 or ASME BPVC Section VIII rules. Turnkey installation services are also offered.

Advantages of Tubular Heat Exchangers

• In high-pressure and large-capacity applications, they are often more economical.
• Their design is relatively simple and they are easy to maintain.
• They are suitable for higher pressures and temperatures than plate heat exchangers.
• Their pressure drop (ΔP) is generally lower than that of plate heat exchangers.
• They are easy to install.
• They suit particle-laden or fouling fluids better, and the tubes can be cleaned mechanically.

Disadvantages of Tubular Heat Exchangers

• They need more space to dismantle and withdraw the tube bundle.
• Their heat transfer coefficient is lower, so a larger area is needed for the same duty.
• Capacity is difficult to increase once installed, whereas a plate heat exchanger can be extended by adding plates.
