Makfen manufactures powder dosing systems by designing processes and equipment that carry out weighing and dosing automatically during raw material preparation and filling. With these systems, the quantity of each raw material called for by the recipe can be added to the process quickly and accurately, with less dependence on the operator.

How Does a Powder Dosing System Work?

Powdered raw material is taken into an intermediate hopper from a bag or big-bag discharge station or from a silo. A screw or vibratory feeder delivers the powder into a weigh hopper mounted on load cells. Dosing is done either by measuring the weight added to the hopper (gain-in-weight) or by monitoring the weight lost from the feeder (loss-in-weight). Once the target quantity is reached, feeding stops and the weighed powder is transferred to the mixer, reactor or filling line.

Manual, Semi-Automatic and Fully Automatic Systems

Makfen designs and manufactures powder dosing systems as manual, semi-automatic or fully automatic units, according to requirements. Operator-controlled weighing stations are sufficient for a small number of raw materials and low capacities, whereas fully automatic systems with PLC recipe management are preferred for multi-component recipes and high capacities. After the project, installation, maintenance, service and technical consultancy are also provided.
